Media Relations & Social Media
What we did for Consumer Energy Education Foundation
For the past three years, Sampson PR was retained to promote Colorado’s Energy Day annual event held at East High School in Denver. The goal for our team was to build a narrative for the event and the energy industry. We developed an editorial calendar of story ideas that media would find interesting and found human-interest angles that would appeal to the general public. We then wrote copy for news releases, editorials, and media pitches to generate media interest in the event. We placed dozens of stories leading up to the event in local television, community newspapers and online.
Examples of these earned-media stories include:
East H.S. AngelRobotics Team (video on the Homepage)
U.S. Space Station Zero Gravity Washing Machine designed by students at Dr. Martin Luther King Preparatory School
George Washington STEM student-led projects
Denver Museum of Nature and Science Rocket Launch
National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s educational programs
Our team’s success was due to the students, educators, and industry partners who helped to make the event bigger and bigger every year introducing kids, families and the community to STEM careers.
What we did for Valor Christian High School
As our select probono client, the mission of the faith-based school was an important reason we selected to work with Valor. Sampson PR worked seamlessly with the school’s internal marketing team to develop digital platforms to deliver information about the newly launched Institute for Applied STEM.
We created a biweekly digital newsletter to communicate with students, staff, and parents; and developed regular content about STEM students and their career pathways, as well as highlighting project-based learning opportunities.
Sampson PR designed a Facebook and Instagram presence for the many STEM Clubs offered including graphics for digital monthly calendar to alert students to time and date for club meetings and activities.
Creating a content calendar for social media and communications efforts was vital in reaching students quickly and consistently about important deadlines and events. We created eye-catching graphics for social media, digital screens, newsletter and the school’s website. Utilizing all these channels to cross market content was important in streamlining our messaging and reaching our stakeholders about Valor’s Institute for Applied STEM.
